Create and Configure Campaigns

Campaigns define where affiliate links send customers, how referrals are attributed, and how commissions are calculated. Start with one simple public campaign, then add more campaigns when a product, audience, or reward rule needs different behavior.

Required Fields

When creating a campaign, fill in:

  1. Campaign name: a short internal name, such as Main SaaS Program.
  2. Destination URL: the page customers should reach from affiliate links.
  3. Reward type: percent for percentage commissions or fixed for a fixed amount.
  4. Commission value: the percentage or fixed amount that should apply to new attributed sales.

The setup wizard starts new campaigns with simple defaults: last-click attribution, a 60-day referral window, and a 30-day commission delay. You can change those in campaign settings.

Important Settings

Use these settings deliberately:

SettingWhat it controls
days_before_referrals_expireHow long a click can receive credit after the visitor opens an affiliate link
days_until_commissions_are_dueHow long after a sale the commission waits before becoming payable
Attribution modelWhether the latest eligible click or first eligible click in the campaign owns the referral
Minimum payout amount and currencyWhen affiliate earnings become payout-ready
stripe_coupon_idThe Stripe coupon used when affiliates promote through Stripe promotion codes

Keep the referral window tied to your normal customer decision cycle. Keep the commission delay tied to your refund and dispute risk.

When To Create Another Campaign

Create a separate campaign when:

  • a product has a different destination page
  • a plan or offer needs a different commission rate
  • you want invite-only/private affiliate access
  • a coupon-based program should use a specific Stripe coupon
  • attribution timing should differ from your main campaign

Do not create separate campaigns just to create separate links for the same affiliate and same reward rules. Use affiliate links inside the existing campaign instead.

Best Practice

For launch, keep the first campaign public and simple. Add private campaigns, fixed rewards, recurring caps, and Stripe discounts only when you have a concrete program rule that needs them.

Before inviting affiliates, confirm the campaign destination URL is the page where the AffiliateBase tracking script is installed or where visitors can reach the Stripe checkout path.
