This page is for affiliates whose program pays commissions through Stripe. Merchants can share it with their affiliates. You connect a Stripe account once, and approved payouts are sent to it. Stripe then pays them out to your bank on its regular schedule.
The program pays you from its own Stripe balance. Stripe moves the money, and AffiliateBase never sees your bank details.
Before you begin
- Your program must pay through Stripe. If it does, your portal Settings page has a Stripe payouts section. If you don’t see it, your program pays by PayPal or Wise. Save the matching email under Profile instead.
- Your portal profile needs an email address.
- Have your personal details and bank details ready.
Connect your Stripe account
- In the affiliate portal, open Settings and find Stripe payouts.
- In Country of your bank account, choose the country where your bank account is.
- Choose Connect with Stripe.
- Complete Stripe’s sign-up form. Stripe asks for your name, date of birth, address, tax ID, and bank details. Outside the US, Stripe may also ask what you do or for a website.
- When you finish, Stripe sends you back to the portal, which shows your status.
If you leave before finishing, come back to Settings and choose Continue in Stripe to pick up where you left off. If a Stripe link has expired, AffiliateBase opens a fresh one.
What each status means
The Stripe payouts section shows one of these statuses:
| Status | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Not set up | You haven’t connected Stripe yet. | Choose your country, then Connect with Stripe. |
| In review | Stripe is reviewing your details. | Nothing. The page updates when Stripe finishes. |
| Action needed | Stripe needs more information before it can pay you. | Read What Stripe still needs, then choose Continue in Stripe. |
| Ready for payouts | Your Stripe account is ready. | Nothing. Approved payouts go to it. |
| Unavailable | Stripe can’t pay you for this program. | Choose PayPal or Wise. See below. |
Under What Stripe still needs, you may see items such as:
- Add the bank account where you want your payouts.
- Accept Stripe’s services agreement.
- Upload a photo ID so Stripe can confirm who you are.
- Enter your tax ID number.
- Tell Stripe how you promote this program.
- Stripe couldn’t verify something you entered. Continue in Stripe to fix it.
You can only be paid through Stripe once your status is Ready for payouts.
When Stripe can’t pay you
Stripe can’t pay affiliates in every country. Which countries work depends on where the program’s Stripe account is. If yours isn’t supported, or Stripe can’t open an account for you, the section shows “Stripe payouts aren’t available for you with this program.”
To get paid another way:
- Under Profile, add your PayPal email or Wise email, then choose Save Settings.
- In Stripe payouts, set Pay me by to PayPal or Wise.
- Choose Save payout method.
The program then pays you by PayPal or Wise.
If the section says “Stripe couldn’t open an account for that country”, check that you chose the right country, and try again. If you can’t, choose PayPal or Wise as above.
When Stripe can’t reach your bank
If Stripe can’t pay out to your bank, Stripe emails you. Update your bank details in Stripe, and Stripe pays you out. The payout from the program has already reached your Stripe account, so it isn’t lost and doesn’t need to be sent again.
If a payout is sent back
Rarely, a payout can’t be sent through Stripe, or it’s reversed in Stripe. You’ll see that the payout is due again. The program owner can send it in a later payout. You don’t need to do anything unless your status shows Action needed.
