Private vs Public Programs
Private (Invite-Only)
Default setup—affiliates can only join via invitation.
Benefits:
- Control who represents your brand
- Curated partner network
- Quality over quantity
Public (Open Signup)
Allow anyone to apply via an application page.
Enable in Settings → Campaigns → Allow public applications
Benefits:
- Scale faster
- Less manual work
- Broader reach
After Invitation Acceptance
Once an affiliate accepts:
- They appear in your Active affiliates tab
- They receive their unique referral links
- They can access the affiliate portal
- Tracking begins immediately
Affiliate Portal Access
After joining, affiliates can access their portal at:
https://affiliates.yourdomain.com
Or your custom subdomain if configured.
Best Practices
Personalize Outreach
Before inviting, consider:
- Why you want this affiliate
- How they’ll benefit
- What makes your program attractive
Set Expectations
Include in your welcome communication:
- Commission rates and structure
- Cookie duration / attribution window
- Payment schedule and thresholds
- Any program rules
Provide Resources
Help affiliates succeed:
- Marketing assets (images, copy)
- Product information
- Best-performing links/pages
- Contact for questions
Follow Up
After they join:
- Send a welcome message
- Check in after first week
- Share early wins and tips
Email Deliverability
If Invitations Aren’t Arriving
- Ask affiliates to check spam/junk folders
- Have them add your sending domain to contacts
- Resend the invitation
- Consider reaching out via another channel first
Allowlisting
Recommend affiliates add these to their contacts:
- Your program’s sending email
noreply@affiliatebase.com
Tracking Invitation Success
Monitor your invitation metrics:
- Sent: Total invitations sent
- Accepted: Successfully onboarded
- Pending: Awaiting response
- Conversion rate: Accepted / Sent
Low acceptance rates might indicate:
- Unclear value proposition
- Wrong target affiliates
- Email deliverability issues
