Creating Your First Affiliate

Once your tracking is set up, it’s time to invite affiliates to your program. This guide walks through the invitation process and affiliate setup.

Inviting an Affiliate

Step 1: Open the Affiliates Tab

From your AffiliateBase dashboard, click Affiliates in the navigation.

Step 2: Click Invite Affiliate

Click the Invite Affiliate button in the top right corner.

Step 3: Enter Details

Fill in the invitation form:

EmailThe affiliate’s email address
CampaignWhich campaign/product they’ll promote (optional)

Step 4: Send the Invitation

Click Send Invitation. The affiliate receives an email with:

  • An invitation to join your program
  • A link to create their account or sign in
  • Basic information about your program

What Happens Next

For the Affiliate

  1. They receive your invitation email
  2. Click the link to accept
  3. Create an account (or sign in if existing)
  4. Access their affiliate dashboard
  5. Get their unique referral links

For You

  1. The affiliate appears in your Invited tab
  2. Once they accept, they move to Active
  3. You can track their performance in the dashboard

Checking Invitation Status

View invitation status in the Affiliates section:

Resending Invitations

If an affiliate didn’t receive the email:

  1. Go to the Invited tab
  2. Find the affiliate
  3. Click the menu (⋮) and select Resend Invitation

Revoking Invitations

To cancel a pending invitation:

  1. Go to the Invited tab
  2. Find the invitation
  3. Click the menu (⋮) and select Revoke

Once an affiliate joins, they automatically get:

https://yoursite.com?via=affiliate-token

Supported Parameters

Affiliates can use different URL parameters:

  • ?via=token (default)
  • ?ref=token
  • ?affiliate=token
  • ?a=token

All parameters work identically.

Affiliates can append their token to any page on your site:

https://yoursite.com/pricing?via=affiliate-token
https://yoursite.com/features?via=affiliate-token

Setting Commission Rates

By default, affiliates earn based on your campaign’s default commission rate. To customize:

  1. Click on the affiliate’s name
  2. Go to their Settings
  3. Adjust their commission rate
  4. Save changes

Affiliate Promo Codes

Each affiliate can also have a unique promo code:

  1. View the affiliate’s profile
  2. Find their Promo Code
  3. Share this code with them

Promo codes work as an alternative to link tracking—useful for podcasts, videos, or offline promotion.

What Affiliates See

After joining, affiliates access their own dashboard showing:

  • Performance metrics: Clicks, leads, conversions
  • Earnings: Current and pending commissions
  • Referral links: Links to share
  • Promo codes: Unique discount codes
  • Payout info: Earnings and payment status

Best Practices

Write a Personal Welcome

After they accept, send a personal email with:

  • Tips for promoting your product
  • High-converting pages to link to
  • Any promotional assets (images, copy)

Set Clear Expectations

Let affiliates know:

  • Commission rates and structure
  • Cookie duration / attribution window
  • Payment schedule and thresholds
  • Any program rules or restrictions

Provide Resources

Help affiliates succeed by sharing:

  • Product descriptions and key features
  • Target audience information
  • Sample social posts or email templates
  • High-quality images and logos
